If you have any problems installing SOFA Statistics, or getting it to work properly, please either:
- ask for help on the discussion group
- contact the lead developer directly (contact us)
- or file a bug report at launchpad.net.
To install and make this work on Windows the user has to be an administrator (unless it is a very old version of Windows).
- Right-click the program icon or Start Menu entry.
- Select "Run as Administrator"
Once the software is installed then the user can be demoted back down to a non-admin account and the software works with no problems.
If you have an old version of Windows you'll want to update IE to at least version 11 so you can view charts etc inside SOFA without having to open reports. You need to do this even if you use Firefox, Chromium etc as your web browser
To install SOFA on Ubuntu 16 you need to run 6 simple commands you can copy and paste as per:Installing SOFA on Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10
echo "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu wily main universe" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wily-copies.list
sudo apt update
sudo apt install python-wxgtk2.8
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wily-copies.list
sudo apt updateDownload latest deb from http://www.sofastatistics.com/downloads.php
sudo dpkg -i sofastats-1.4.6-1_all.deb
If you get a message like "not compatible with your OS. Instead we recommend trying ..." when trying to install on your local machine, change your Gatekeeper settings to "Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere". See Gatekeeper settings.
The tar.gz file contains a README.txt and an installation script to run. Installation has worked on Fedora and openSUSE so far. There is also a version specifically for Arch at Arch SOFA archive version 1.4.6 thanks to Guillaume Latraverse - cd to directory containing file, sudo pacman -U sofastats-1.4.6-1-any.pkg.tar.xz, ignore permissions warning.
