Plug-ins, Bonus Themes etc

Refund?

Good news - the newest versions of SOFA (1.4.3 and even earlier) include the plug-in functionality for free. You are entitled to a refund if you'd like.

General

Supply customer with plug-in, EULA, bonus themes and, when appropriate, file-copying bash script. They are in ~/projects/SOFA/plug-ins bonus themes etc. If the user has only ordered the Image plug-in, see the image only subfolder for convenience.

Subject line: Thanks - here's your plug-in, free bonus themes and instructions

Hi <Name>,

Greetings from New Zealand!

Bonus theme instructions

The bonus themes go in your css folder under your username e.g. C:\Users\username\sofastats\css. Once you restart SOFA you will see them in a list:

You will also need to add the images (sky.jpg and prestige_spirals.gif) into your “C:\Users\username\sofastats\reports\sofastats_report_extras” folder (“/home/username/Documents/sofastats/reports/sofastats_report_extras” on Linux).

Plug-in instructions

The plug-in (e.g. export_output.py) goes into your sofastats program folder e.g. C:\Program Files\sofastats. NOTE - this is not the same place the themes and images went into. Put the file in there (if an earlier version of the plug-in is already there, delete the old version first) and restart SOFA. Next time you try to use the plug-in functionality it should be available.

In Mac, you need to open the app bundle as per:

and then drag the plug-in into the bundle like this:

In Linux, the following script might help (sofa_cp_files.bin):

#!/bin/bash
cp prestige\ \(print\).css ~/Documents/sofastats/css
cp prestige\ \(screen\).css ~/Documents/sofastats/css
cp sky.css ~/Documents/sofastats/css
cp prestige_spirals.gif ~/Documents/sofastats/reports/sofastats/report_extras
cp sky.jpg ~/Documents/sofastats/reports/sofastats/report_extras
sudo cp export_output.py /usr/share/pyshared/sofastats

If you have any questions, or any problems at all, please let me know.

All the best,

Grant

Oops! Ordered Image Export for Mac by Accident

Hi <Name>,

I'm very sorry but the Image export plug-in doesn't work on Mac (yet). There are some technical problems getting installers for key libraries. There is a small notice on the purchase page warning that there is no Mac version but it sometimes gets missed.

What would you like to do? There are several options including:

  1. A refund
  2. A swap (unfortunately not an option if you purchased a bundle) - I send you two modules to make up for the one which doesn't work (the data export module and the backup module)
  3. I send you an export images plug-in when it is eventually made (not sure when though)

As for exporting output as images or PDFs, you will still be able to do that.

  • Using the plug-in on any Windows or Linux machines you have access to (even if you make your reports on Mac).
  • Taking screenshots of individual images. This is very easy using a free screenshot tool. For example, here is an image I took recently using Shutter, which also let me add an arrow.
  • And if you save a report, rename it from …htm to …xls, you can open it in a spreadsheet and see all the main content ready to edit etc.

Once again, sorry this difficulty has arisen. Please let me know what you would like to happen next.

All the best,

Grant
